LORRAINE SINGH

1 | 2

Lost Nephew

Trucks rumble past my sister’s house

it is early

the sea has thrown us back your body

I sleep in your old room

It is early

what woke me?

I sleep in your old room

moths whirl dying

What woke me?

you shiver with cold

moths whirl dying

your smile was brighter than love

You shiver with cold

gulls shriek and wheel on the uplift

your smile was brighter than love

as you make your way for home

Gulls shriek and wheel

trucks rumble past my sister’s house

your smile was brighter than love

I sleep in your old room
