Brooke Soulsby

Brooke Soulsby (she/her) is a writer, huge reader and publishing professional with a love for local bush tracks and autumn evenings. She was born in Whangārei and has lived in Te Whanganui-a-Tara since 2017. She holds a BA and a BA(Hons) from Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, and a Graduate Diploma in Publishing (Applied) from Whitireia. In 2023, she and two close friends from her 2021 Whitireia Publishing cohort founded the publishing collective circular, an inclusive online literary journal with a focus on genre-bending and form-blending short fiction, poetry and essays. In addition to these poems in the 4th Floor Journal, her writing has been published in Salient, Theatre Scenes and bad apple. It features in circular issue 1 and the forthcoming ‘CRINGE’ issue from The Circus. She is also an occasional slam poet, having competed in multiple Motif Poetry slams, as well as in the Pōneke Wellington Slam Champs 2024.
