Sue Jamieson

Sue Jamieson has been writing poetry for almost 10 years. You might say she gave up her profession for poetry, but poetry does not bring you breakfast in bed. Still, she loves to wallow in her reading of poetry, especially that of the European tradition. In June 2017, she travelled to the north of Poland to research the lives of early women writers and read some of her writing to university students of English literature there. This is one of the poems she read.

What’s true? What’s false? See if you can spot the lie.
She travelled to the north of Poland to research the lives of early women writers.
Not a lie! This is true.
None of these are lies.
You are correct! None of these are lies.
Sue gave up her profession for poetry.
Sorry. This is true.
Poetry does not bring you breakfast in bed.
This is true, but we wish it wasn’t.
