My first mini-series

Some white people were trying to help some black people get civil rights. I saw them all get shot dead down a dark shingle road. In art we learnt white is the mixing colour. Even if I stay out of the sun, I’m beige. My brother says the Ku Klux Klan isn’t just in America. He says Mr Wrightson is a member and that’s why he won’t let Mum teach his son. That’s where his son got that word coon. When the man with Alzheimer’s banged hard on our door in the middle of the night, I thought they had come for us.
