Petone Street Carnival

Take me to the Petone Street Carnival
where the jive is alive and
children emerge from
the brickwork, where the
summer breeze sways
  echoes illumine from a didgeridoo
where stalls sell hickory  bargains
never stop  where samosas are
delicious, the souls hit the spot,
I want to go: the Carnival’s
where it’s at  there jugglers
swallow fire, the road
talks, energy transforms
and love spreads harmony,
  mirrors paint faces, poets
record sneezes  musicians
blow ballads and we dance
  in animation,
I’m going to Petone Street Carnival
You coming, or not?
