Summer's End
Lyn Blakely

Summer's end falls flat like unleavened bread,
Unleavened bread lasts like a long-life battery,
Long-life batteries give up like exhausted runners,
Exhausted runners collapse like deflated balloons,
Deflated balloons symbolise past festivities,
Past festivities alter like musical variations,
Musical variations spring from the same theme,
The same theme resonates like a mellow bass,
A mellow bass is warm like the summer wind,
The summer wind is lost at summer's end.
